Donna Denise Holland

Donna Denise Holland, a Native New Yorker, is currently a high school science teacher at James Madison High School in Brooklyn, New York.  She joined the faculty at James Madison High School after twelve years of conducting research in the Department of Psychiatry at The Mount Sinai Medical Center of New York.

In June 2001, Donna was recruited to participate in the New York City Teaching Fellow Program. This program was designed to fast-track Fellows into full-time teaching rather than completing traditional education programs prior to entering the classroom, as a means of raising the level of student achievement in urban public schools.  Following completion of that program, she earned her New York State Permanent Certification in Chemistry 7-12 and a Master of Arts in Science Education from Brooklyn College, City University of New York.  In 1988, Donna completed her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.

Donna is dedicated to her students and to the development of their critical thinking skills; she hopes to inspire in them a lifelong passion for scientific learning that will directly and dramatically impact their academic success.
