Josh & one of his students in South Africa

“They say home is where the heart is. If this saying is true, then I call Leap and South Africa my second home. Teach with Africa has provided me with an opportunity to experience an exciting voyage in education. The students and teachers at Leap taught me that education is the key to success. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return to South Africa and continue the journey of helping students achieve educational greatness.”

Josh is passionate about teaching, both as a full-time educator and a youth mentor. He has his BS in Liberal Studies focused on Education, Science and History from Longwood University and his Masters in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is currently teaching 7th and 8th grade science as well as the Saturday School coordinator at KIPP Philadelphia Charter School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which serves students from economically and socially challenged neighborhoods. Being a part of the Teach with Africa program was a life changing experience last year, and Josh is excited to return to South Africa to continue his life long journey of education.
