Announcing 2014 Faculty-in-Residence Team
Teach With Africa is delighted to announce the arrival of our team of eight Faculty-in-Residence in South Africa. Our team will spend the next 4-6 weeks presenting instructional development workshops to student teachers and young instructional leaders as part of the Global Teachers Institute programming.
Six of our Faculty-in-Residence will be collaborating with peers at the LEAP Science and Maths Schools in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Limpopo. Our two Early Childhood Development (ECD) Faculty-in-Residence will be based at Singita Sabi Sand and working with a network of 20 rural preschools in Mpumalanga Province as part of the “Growing our Teachers” partnership with TCS Education System, Pacific Oaks College, READ, and Singita.
We will kick off our Global Teachers Institute workshops on Monday, July 16th with our 2nd Annual Aspiring Teachers Summit – a 3 day professional conference in Johannesburg. The Summit will focus on innovative education practices and tangible teaching tools for approximately 50 attendees from all 6 LEAP Schools and Inanda Seminary. TWA’s team will staff the Summit by presenting workshops on topics such as: Co-teaching, Building Background Knowledge, Differentiated Instruction, Activating & Creating Schema, Formative Assessments, Authentic Conversations & Critiques, and Effective Openings & Closings.
