Admin Coordinator

Position Description:

TWA is seeking a part-time Admin Coordinator to assist with various aspects of our educational nonprofit operations. The Coordinator will be expected to assist with a variety of tasks related to admin, operations, program support, donor relations and event planning including: administrative work, database (Salesforce & excel) data entry, filing, event planning for gala fundraiser and other events throughout the year, donor mailings, communications, social media, and marketing.

The Coordinator will also assist with general administrative work: basic bookkeeping support, filing, email communications, scheduling, etc. There could also be opportunity to gain experience in grant research and writing for an interested candidate.

We seek a self-driven, hardworking and professionally minded team member who can be flexible to take on a variety of tasks with sometimes limited direction. Excellent computer and organization skills required. Preference for candidates with prior nonprofit, fundraising, and/or office experience. Must be highly computer literate in use of Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Experience with Salesforce or other donor databases strongly preferred.

Valid US Driver’s License and willingness to drive for local errands and program transportation is required. Owning a car is a bonus, but not necessary. TWA will pay mileage or rent a car when required.

Tasks will include:

Development/ Fundraising/Communications

  • Maintaining individual and corporate donation information in Salesforce database
  • Track donations in spreadsheets/reports
  • Grant/foundation/donor prospect research and correspondence
  • Gala auction solicitation and coordination
  • Donor correspondence: thank yous, tax letters
  • Respond to misc inquiries and communications about TWA
  • Event planning logistics
  • Social media: facebook and twitter updates

Admin/ Operations

  • Assist with accounting needs: credit card logs and receipt organization
  • Filing and organization


  • Assist with program logistics/ admin
  • Assist with application processing and recordkeeping
  • Driving errands and South Africa team transportation during March program
  • Coordinate logistics and communication for US Educator Exchange Program in March with host schools & host families

The Coordinator should be available to work 18 hours (Monday thru Friday) per week at the TWA office in San Francisco (972 Mission Street). Ideal schedule would be 3 days per week in the office with flexibility for occasional night or weekend hours in March. Limited work from home hours may be negotiated. This is a paid, temporary part-time position at $20 per hour. There is a possibility for full time (40 hrs per week) increase for the month of March. The position will be paid hourly as a payroll employee with no health insurance benefits offered. Holidays are paid and vacation/ sick time is accrued on a pro-rated basis.

Teach With Africa (TWA) is a non-profit organization empowering students and teachers in a reciprocal exchange of teaching and learning in Africa and the US. TWA seeks to reduce the embedded inequities in our societies by working to provide access to quality education in order to transform children’s lives, schools, and communities.

TWA program activity since 2008

  • Reached over 26,000 students and 1,000 educators through our 2014 Global Teachers Institute programs (Aspiring Teachers Summit, EdTech Summit, and ECD Program)
  • Developed a robust reciprocal teacher training and collaboration program between South Africa and the U.S. with a unique focus on social-emotional learning and cross-cultural relationship building
  • 7 annual teaching team trips (cohorts of 10-15 teachers) at LEAP Science and Maths High School campuses throughout South Africa
  • 120 educators placed at LEAP Schools for a cumulative 500+ weeks, 48+ LEAP graduates/teaching interns placed in US school internships for a cumulative 100+ weeks over the past 4 years
  • 2012 formed the Global Teacher Institute to scaffold the teaching practice of university students and others committed to positively affecting the South African education landscape TWA is entering its next phase of growth with the initial stage of developing a global educational leadership/teacher training institute in partnership with the LEAP Science and Maths Schools in South Africa ( This Institute will serve as the over-arching, strategic framework within which to integrate and operate our programs and scale our impact.
