Teach with Africa ‘Teaching and Learning Moments’ Photo Contest

Teach With Africa works to empower students and teachers in a reciprocal exchange of teaching and learning in Africa and the U.S. and seek to reduce the embedded inequities in our societies by working to provide access to quality education in order to transform children’s lives, schools and communities. In the spirit of celebrating International Nelson Mandela Day, we find a great opportunity to honor his legacy and commitment to global educational equality. At Teach with Africa, we want to make visible those “Learning Moments” that occurs around the world, every day, by creating a photo contest.

Photo Contest Rules:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN A PRIZE. A PURCHASE DOES NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

Terms: 

Teach With Africa Share the Learning Moment Photo Contest begins July 24th, 2013 at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST) and ends August 5th, 2013, at 11:59 PM (PST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest.

What to enter:
A photo of a learning moment should be posted on Teach With Africa Facebook page with the hashtags, #TeachWithAfrica and #Education.

Conditions:

The winner must Like Teach With Africa on Facebook. By submitting a photograph to the Teach With Africa Photo Contest you warrant that you are the owner of the image, that you alone own the copyright, and that you have obtained any necessary third-party releases.

This contest is open to anyone 18 years old or older, however employees and their immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, children and each of their respective spouses) of Teach With Africa, and other participating sponsors are not eligible to enter or win. This Contest is governed by U.S. law and is subject to all federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited by law.

For a photo in which a person is recognizable, you must secure a model release from the subject or, in the case of a minor, the subject’s parent or guardian and provide it to Teach With Africa upon request. A sample release is available on the Teach With Africa Facebook page. Photos that violate or infringe upon another person’s rights, including but not limited to copyright, are not eligible.

How to enter:

Please submit photographs on-line via the Teach With Africa the Learning Moment contest entry available on the Teach With Africa Facebook page. We do not accept photographs submitted through the mail. Submit no more than ten (10) photographs. All participants will be posted for the public to vote on Facebook. Teach With Africa reserves the right to disqualify contestants.

By entering the contest, entrants that win the first, second place and the staff’s choice grant Teach With Africa a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any educational, promotional, publicity, exhibition, archival, scholarly and all other standard purposes. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. Teach With Africa will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

If your photograph is selected as a winner of the contest, you may be asked to submit a personal photo release form, a location release, or an artist release. Please do not send any releases unless we’ve asked you to.

This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Inc.  Any information you provide in connection with the Contest is to Teach With Africa and/or its sponsors/administrators and not to Facebook.  You understand that by using and interacting with www.facebook.com, you are subject to the terms, conditions, and policies that govern the use of www.facebook.com.  You should therefore review the applicable terms and policies for www.facebook.com, including privacy and data gathering practices, before using or interacting with Facebook. 

Entry deadline:
Users must submit their photos from July 24th, 2013 – August 5th, 2013 11:59 PM (“Submission Period”)

Voting:
Facebook users will be encouraged to vote from July 24th at 11:59 PM (PST) to August 8th, 2013 at 11:59 PM (PST).

At that time, the public can vote on our Facebook page for one winner, which will be revealed on August 9th, 2013 at 5:00 PM (PST). The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Teach With Africa reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of Teach With Africa will be final.

Voters can cast 1 vote per photo per Facebook user per day.

Judging:
Judging will be conducted on August 9th, 2013 by 5:00 PM (PST) through Facebook according to the number of Likes in the contest, as 1st place and the 2nd place will be the Staff’s prize. 

Prizes:
One winner will be selected based on the number of Likes received on Teach With Africa Facebook page. All costs, taxes, fees, and expenses associated with any element of any prize not specifically addressed above are the sole responsibility of the respective winner. Some restrictions may apply.

Additionally, a third winner will be selected by Teach With Africa staff’s choice.
